| 内容記述 | This paper deals with some aspects of behavior of eat(e) and several set phrases including eat(e) in the Authorized Version of the Bible published in 1611. The main findings after discussion are as follows: 1. The preterite form of eat(e) is periphrastic in almost all the cases, i.e., did/didst eat(e); 2. The verb connected most often with eat(e) by and or (n) or on its right side is drink; 3. The noun Used as an object of eat(e) most often is bread; 4. The of in a set phrase eat(e) of is almost always partitive of; 5. The phrase one's fill in a set phrase eat(e) one's fill is an adverbial, and the set phrase is not Hebraism; 6. A set phrase eat(e) the labour of one's handes as well as eat(e) one's own flesh is Hebraism. | |||||||
